Our Story
The Royal Standard is a 400 year old family run Palmers pub right on the seafront in beautiful Lyme Regis, Dorset, next to the famous Cobb (both seen in this photo).
The beach side pub has been passed down within the same family since 1993 with a little refurbishing here and there but the traditional characteristics of the pub remain the same. In 2018, the daughter of the Landlord took over with her Greek husband (who is conveniently a trained chef, which is where the Greek influence on the menu comes from).
The Royal Standard is one of the flagship pubs for local brewers, Palmers brewery, which has been brewing fine real ales since 1794. The quality of ale has been accredited with a Cask Marque Award, this is to show excellence in cellar management and ale quality. Palmers have also recently ventured in to the world of cider with their new brand, Dorset Orchards.
The Royal Standard offers a large sun trap beer garden – with some permanent shade/shelter leading out on to the beach which is accessible by wheelchair/pushchair – a dining area, a bar area with a pool table, a real log fire in the winter months and disabled toilets with baby changing facilities. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
